Blog
REST. REFLECT. RE-PRIORITIZE.
Somehow this Blog entry from last summer got buried and forgotten until tonight. Reading it again a year later, I’m going to take my own advice (once again)… only I’m sharing it this time!
Unboxing Fun!
It’s always fun to receive a box from SAORI Global. In this case, I had placed an order to replenish my supply of ready-made black cotton warps.
One of the many game-changing features of the SAORI product line is that these ready-made warps come in a variety of widths – from a modest 50 thread ends, all the way up to 450 threads for the really ambitious weaver. The warps are also available in several lengths: 6 meters, 12 m, 20 m, and 30 m.
Garden Wisdom
There are days sometimes when I just feel worn down by the news. You too? We almost can’t escape it, can we?
Today was one of those days, although it shouldn’t have been, because I started the day with a couple of wins and a few feel-good moments with friends. But by late afternoon, and even after a nice nap, my positive attitude started to crumble, simply because I picked up my phone and glanced a few headlines!
Meet Willow! Our New Studio Kitten
Willow came to us about three weeks ago via a friend who weaves regularly in the studio, and she came with a story. Not really feral, nor truly a “rescue,” Willow had simply appeared one day and started hanging out on several neighbors’ front porches, looking cute and generating all kinds of kindness and food from those she visited.
When the weather took a turn from warm springtime temperatures back to several days of freezing winter, a neighbor allowed this cutie to come inside, where she made herself quite at home. Although incredibly adorable, the neighbor couldn’t keep Willow, and the search for a permanent home was underway.
“Spring Forward” — More than just a time change
I’m still pondering our “spring forward” tradition of moving our clocks 1 hour ahead, when again today I awoke in the confusion of wondering why it wasn’t yet daylight. The weather now is like it was that first day after the time change… a bit unusual for the Texas hill country, because it’s misty and foggy, and even when it became daylight, it was still a dark morning.
As I recall that morning after “springing forward,” the weather fit my mood, as I was feeling a little foggy myself. That’s normal for the day when shifting clocks make you wake up earlier or later than the day before. But it was more than that for me. In contrast to being surrounded by this new spring energy, I was myself feeling stagnant and frozen. My creative energy had been covered up by my massive to-do list and the mundane requirements of everyday life.
Who Cares Anyway?
I’m always in awe of people who write. It’s a wonder to me how they can come up with content that they believe others would read. In recent years, I’ve been encouraged to put down a few sentences to enhance the algorithm’s ability to recognize my website and be more likely to get it in front of those who might be interested in what I’m interested in. But I always stall at the next thought… Who cares what I think, anyway?
So that’s the introduction for my first “blog.” In case anyone reading this is wondering, just know how surprised (and appreciative) I am that you’re taking the time!
