Unboxing Fun!

It’s always fun to receive a box from SAORI Global. In this case, I had placed an order to replenish my supply of ready-made black cotton warps.

One of the many game-changing features of the SAORI product line is that these ready-made warps come in a variety of widths – from a modest 50 thread ends, all the way up to 450 threads for the really ambitious weaver. The warps are also available in several lengths: 6 meters, 12 m, 20 m, and 30 m.

I like to use the 30 m black warps in the studio for new weaving students, because they can be easily cut off and allow a new project to be started, without missing a beat!

As much as I love making (and helping students make) colorful warps, I always find myself drawn back to the black warps and how they provide such a nice foundation to make colors pop, a little like stained glass.

And then there’s the timeless elegance of black and white!

A piece of SAORI fabric I just started weaving, with a black cotton warp and some pretty white yarn!
