REST. REFLECT. RE-PRIORITIZE.

Somehow this Blog entry from last summer got buried and forgotten until tonight.  Reading it again a year later, I’m going to take my own advice (once again)… only I’m sharing it this time!

2025

I’m writing this while on vacation, sitting 36 floors above the beautiful city of Vancouver. It’s cloudy and 65 degrees. Where I come from, TEXAS, it’s currently over 100 degrees and the sun is scorching. The Canadian weather alone is cause for taking a big cleansing breath of appreciation. Our family selects the first week in August each year to get away. While escaping the heat is one reason we leave, there are other motivations for choosing this week, which I will discuss another time.

What I’m enjoying most about this week (it’s the sushi), is the opportunity to rest and reflect on my everyday priorities where I’m not bossed around by my schedule. Oh right… I remember now who makes this schedule … and she’s writing this! So, I’ll ask you what I’m asking myself. Make a list! What gives you joy? What gives you peace? What makes you laugh out loud? What feeds your creativity? What makes your body feel better? What makes you feel loved or seen, or sexy or brilliant? These questions regarding "what" may also be expressed as "who", "when", or "how”.

We’re responsible for our own well -being. You don’t have to take a vacation to another country to re-prioritize what’s essential for your happiness… unless taking that vacation achieves something on your list above!

As for me, I’m setting an intention to spend time each day doing  things that bring me all kinds of joy, generate healthful activity, creative expression, quiet contemplation and full body laughing. I can’t think of any downside to this, but I probably won’t know what’s happening in the news or the stock market or the price of eggs.

I’m okay with that.
