Meet Willow! Our New Studio Kitten
Willow came to us about three weeks ago via a friend who weaves regularly in the studio, and she came with a story. Not really feral, nor truly a “rescue,” Willow had simply appeared one day and started hanging out on several neighbors’ front porches, looking cute and generating all kinds of kindness and food from those she visited.
When the weather took a turn from warm springtime temperatures back to several days of freezing winter, a neighbor allowed this cutie to come inside, where she made herself quite at home. Although incredibly adorable, the neighbor couldn’t keep Willow, and the search for a permanent home was underway.
Willow was described to me as a “unicorn cat,” meaning she displayed the best features a cat can have while lacking any observable bad traits. I wasn’t quite ready to adopt another pet, having just lost our cat Sammy a few months ago (his reign as “Studio King” ended when, at 20 yrs old, he crossed the rainbow bridge).
And yet, the description of this kitten piqued my interest., so I made arrangements to meet her. As you might have suspected, I immediately fell in love and knew that yes, this “unicorn” would make a wonderful pet and guardian of the studio. My husband agreed and gave her the name Willow, because she hasn’t yet grown into her long legs and tail!
In the three weeks she’s been here, she has really grown! She’s quite the adorable character… a tiny socialite who enjoys greeting weavers in the studio and loves anyone who’ll pet her. I thoroughly enjoy her constant companionship as I’m working.
